Downsview Park and its future

Since 1994 and through 1995 I was the chairman of a citizen group residing in Downsview , always looking out and listening to what the residents around the Downsview land had to say regarding the future of the lands.  Without a doubt all the residents I always talked to wanted the green space to be left alone. No housing development, no industrial development and no commercial development, the residents of Downsview wanted to share the park to the people of Toronto and everybody else in Ontario. I made that my agenda.

This week 31 Division Toronto Police report nineteen counts of theft in the area including three armed robberies.  Police were called to Ladyfield Ct & Northover St (around Calico Public School) near Jane St and Sheppard West Ave midday on Sunday March 25, 2007.  The victim was walking along the street when he was confronted by three teenagers.  One of the suspects began to curse and then fought the victim.  The same suspect pulled out a handgun and requested the victim’s wallet.  The three teenage boys fled the scene before police could arrive.  The full crime report is reproduced below.
